INDUSTRY NEWS
-------------------
TechCrunch Cloud Event. Great Roster. (Marc Benioff, CEO, Salesforce.com; Vic Gundotra, VP Engineering, Google; Amitabh Srivastava, Corporate VP, Windows Azure; Lew Tucker, CTO, Cloud Computing, Sun Microsystems; Scott Dietzen, SVP Communications Products, Yahoo; Paul Buchheit, Co-founder, FriendFeed; creator of Gmail; Werner Vogels, CTO Amazon; Mike Schroepfer, VP of Engineering, Facebook; Gina Bianchini, CEO, Ning; John Engates, CTO, Rackspace)
http://www.techcrunch.com/whose-cloud-is-it-anyway/

A few cheap shots between panelists, but nothing brand new. Standouts: Marc Benioff still says the fight is between the old model of buying software and the cloud models. Eric Schonfeld says you can stop beating up on Siebel, but Benioff says he loses more deals to that than bickering between other cloud offerings.

Discussion: Are the relevant battles really between the old computing/software models and new models, or between different cloud providers?
